We are not compatible with Office 2013 at the moment. But will be middle of next year. We would like to wait for the official version.

Not yet, Microsoft has changed the user interface a lot technically we had to pospone the support of the new Office to the next year.

This year we are completing the 64 bit Office support (2010),

just bought a new Dell compouter (laptop). Took the Office package through Dell as well, without realizing it is a different version from the one I have on the other Dell (desktop) I bought 6 months ago. Now J Chem for Excel will not work because of lack of compatibility with Excel 2013.

I really need to be able to use this on the laptop, and I need a solution. Do I need to get an old Excel 2010?

I hate the idea of paying for another Excel license!!!

When will J Chem for Excel be compatible with Excel 2013?

Hi Stefano,

if you checked the forum thread above, we had plans to start supporting it this year, but after diggin into the deep it turned out that Microsoft has changed Excel 2013 interface massively. At the same time we are about to introduce 64 bit support of our add-in (2010).

Now this takes the priority, however we would be the happiest if we could find a good solution to Excel 2013 compatibility issue this year. We have alternatives but  we need to serve both requests coming in from our customers (64-bit and 2013 support ).

The ballpark estimate last time we gave was and obviously these features are in synch with the compamy major releases:

6.2 - this November/December (64-bit support)
6.3 - next April (2013 support)

Nevertheless, we try our best to roll out both solutions even this year because so many customers complained about the pressure of new hardwares and OEM O2013 installation recently.

Thanks for your appreciation,

Viktor

Hallo Viktor,

Your e-mail below is confusing.

Are you expecting to release JC4XL in April 2013 or 2014??

Hi Zeno,

sorry I do not understand your question, we release JC4XL approx. 3 times a year. If you check the date of my post, it was done late August. So the answer is pretty clear 6.2 release will happen this December and 6.3 will done next April.

The post was about Excel 2013 suport and 64 bit support, the year is pretty obvious I think.

Hallo Viktor,

Thank you. In my haste I read "6.3 - next April (2013 support)" as April 2013.

Regards

Zeno

I know it's an old thread, but does anyone have any more recent information regarding Excel 2013 compatibility?

Hi Matthew,

yes, it is compatible. JC4XL supports two environments

- 8.1 Windows, Excel 2013 (64 and 32 bit)

- Windows 7 Excel 2013 (64 and 32 bit)

You need to make sure that the Directx driver is 11.2. (Windows 8.1 delivers the latest one as default)

Thank you for the quick reply!

I only asked because I'm having trouble getting it to install.  The installed runs without any issues, but the Install.log file consists of the following:

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - JChemExcel AddIns - Install

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - install dir = C:\Program Files\ChemAxon\JChem for Excel\Docs\..\

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - version = 14.9.1500.793

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - enable started

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - Excel 2003

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - Excel is NOT installed

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - Excel 2007

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - Excel is NOT installed

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - Excel 2010

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - Excel is NOT installed

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - Excel 2013

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - Excel is NOT installed

2014-09-23 23:14:41Z - enable ended

As a result, the add-in is not accessible from within Excel, although the CXNSharedAddin does appear to be loading correctly.  Nothing here (http://www.chemaxon.com/jchem4excel/adminguide/jchem_tab_does_not_appear.html) appears to be relevant to this situation.
