Importing RD files with very large numbers of fields

Just a thought.

It is turning out to be highly impractical to repeatedly choose a subset of fields (columns) from the RD files I'm importing - they typically have > 150 data columns - I only need to use 3!

A certain rival chemical spreadsheet handles this by allowing the user to write a filter file that lists the fields that should be imported with an option to alias each field name to something far more readable. E.g.

RXN:VARIATION(1):STEPNO(1):SOLVENT(1):REGNO   "Solvent regno"

When importing an RD/SD file the user has the option to select an associated filter file to control what is imported (instead of wading through >150 field names in a dialog box to disable the vast majority of them)

Select All, Deselct All?

Nope - its still inconvenient as even "deselect all" as a starter is still followed by a labourious scan for the fields you do want. Then I have to repeat this for many many RD files - oh joy!

Anyway its an idea for you all to play with - I'll have to get by for now ;)
