Load of JChem for Excel Addin fails

Hello,


after the installation of JChem for Excel (without error) the icons are visible. But after clicking on one the splash screen appears, but after some time it disappears and all JChem for Excel buttons are gray.


Versions:


JChem for Excel: 5.4.0.398


Excel: 2007 SP2


The content of the log file:

Dear Michael,


this issue looks strange, and we have not seen like this with problematic installations. You could try the following:


1.Make sure .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is installed. However its absence, or the version without SP1 should not cause this problem.


2. Reinstall JChem for Excel or repair the installation under Add / Remove Programs.


3. If you have any other ChemAxon products present, especially older ones, you could remove them temporarily, and reinstall JChem for Excel afterwards. IF this was the case, plaese let us know which versions caused the problem. 


4. You could try to execute the msi installer with logging, and post us the logs:


msiexec /i JChem_For_Excel_5.4.0.398.msi /lvx* d:\temp\JCXL.log


5. We will release 5.4.1 next Monday, you could also try with that, but I am not sure that in your case this will be fixed.


 


If none of these help, we could further enchance the logging, and send you a development version which you could try, or we could offer a web based help, where we try to resolve your issue.

thank you for your answer. The error disappeared during some other installations (not related to JChem for Excel).


So we can't reproduce the error.

first of all I am glad to hear that the problem is solved, but on the other hand we would be happier, if we knew what was wrong.


If it is known, could you please send us what other installations fixed the problem? Other ChemAxon products, or some .NET changes?
