Microsoft Excel 2016 crashes at loading JChem For Excel addin after update Windows 10 (x64)

Following a forced Windows update (Aug 18) the previous version of JChem for Office (16.6.2000.909) was working fine. Following the Windows update the Add-In would not load up. Updated to 16.8.1500.1054.x64 (appropriate for my Win10x64 operating system & office package). I can now start Excel and see JChem options available, however when I attempt to activate any option (options, convert smiles to structure, etc.) Excel crashes and Add-In disabled on restart. Add-In for Word & PowerPoint work fine.

Any help you could give would be appreciated.

Hi Jim,

Could you please send the number of the Windows update installed on 18th of August?

Could you please check if there is any other installed chemistry addin (e.g. ChemDraw for Excel, ISIS for Excel, Isentris for Excel, Accord for Excel etc.)? Sometiems other chemistry addins can cause problems at loading JChem for Excel addin. The problem usually can be solved by disabling/removing other chemistry addins.

If there is no other chemistry addin, then please try to uninstall and re-install the JChem for Office.

Best regards,

Zsolt

Hi Zsolt

Currently at Windows 10 build 14393.105 with no other chemistry plugin in Excel or elsewhere. Uninstalled and reinstalled a couple times to no effect. Hadn't needed JChem Excel for a bit and ran it this a.m. still having the same issue where you can see the plugin but once you try to start any aspect of it Excel crashes. Installed most up to date version of uninstalled and reinstialled JChem for Excel (most recent version). Still does not address issue. I recall there was an upgrade to some .NET bits on the Aug. 18 install. Any change something went awry there?

Regards,

Jim
