Hi,

While testing version of JChem for Excel 16.3.28, I noticed the compatibility with Chem Draw 2010 (chem Draw 12) not longer works and produces an error:

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {1B79AA41-014A-4037-BF69-D539EA7DFCC8} failed due to the following error:  80040154

Also,  I tested with the latet Chem Draw version Chem Draw 15.  It also does not work giving the following error:

Message:  could not open Structure editor

Details:  Attached in txt format

My main question is when will JChem for Excel be compatible with Chem Draw 15.  We are going to push ChemDraw 15 out soon to our chemist from Chem Draw 12.

Please let me know when this will happen.

Thanks,

Eileen

Hi Eileen,

I just installed ChemDraw 12 to my computer, and it works fine in the latest version of JChem for Excel (I have Win7-64-bit, Office 2016-32-bit).

Then I uninstalled the latest version of JChem for Office, and installed the version your users are currently using in your company (15.8.31): ChemDraw12 works fine on this as well.

ChemDraw15 is not supported yet; we will implement it soon. I will inform you as soon as it is ready.

Best regards,

Hi Akos,

In Structure Editor setting, Chem Draw OLE does not work but I got the Chem Draw to work.

My main concern is Chem Draw 15, which does not work for any of the settings in the Sturcture Editor.

We want to switch to this version in the next month or so.

Hi Eileen,

Yes, I could reproduce that the ChemDraw12 OLE editor currently does not work: is it a must have for you?

We are working on the ChemDraw15 compatibility. Do you also need the ChemDraw15 OLE editor?

Hi Akos,

Chem Draw 15 compatibility is a must for us.

Chem Draw 15 OLE is something we like to have.

Thanks,

Hi Akos,

I have some updated information regarding Chem Draw 15.

Our IT group performed an uninstall and reinstall of Chem Draw 15.  After some testing, it turns out that Chem Draw (OLE) setting does work within Jchem for Excel.

The other options, though, that keep the Chem Draw window within Excel still renders error.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,
