JChem Word add-in only works in Administrative Mode

Dear developers,

i'd installed the Jchem for Office 15.1.2600.2271.x86 on my Windows 7 64bits where I had Word 2013 (64bits). After the installation concluded I cannot open the ribbon when Jchem add-in woud be installed (as other add-ins are Endnote, Acrobat, Chem4Word,...)

I tried to open other Office programs (e.g., Power Point and Word) as an user and the Jchem add-in isn't there. When I run the same Office programs as na administrator, the Jchem add-inn ribbon appeared.

Thus, I wonder to know how can I install the Jchem add-in in a manner that this extension could be loaded when I run Office programs as an user and not with administrative properties?

Regards.

Notes:

  1. I'm the administrator and the user of this Windows 7 64-bits version

  2. I'd downloaded and installed the end user version of Jchem for Office (.exe archive)

Hi Samuel,

as far as I know the installer requires eleveted priviledge since some of the components need to be installed into HKLM in the registry.

But the end user can activate or deactivate the JChem (tab) individually.

We are going to test your issues/64 bit and from restricted user point of view and let you know the results.

Hi Samuel,

I did not notice that you mentioned an incorrect version of the installer you used,

JChem for Office 15.1.2600.2271.x86 x86 was created for 32 bit Office (Word, PPT).

You need to download and run the 64 bit version of the installer instead.

Hi Viktor,

I wrote a wrong version of the Jchem4Office. I'd downloaded the *x64.exe and *x64.msi versions and not X86.

Thanks!

Hi Viktor,

After I installed the *x64.msi version of Jchem4Office on my PC, I was able to activate the Jchem tabs only when I ran Office programs as an administrative privileges. As this action isn't secure in Windows, I wonder to know how can I activate the Jchem tab in Office programs as an common user not as administrator?

Thanks.

Hi Samuel,

I think Microsoft Office also requires admin rle to write keys into the registry. Why is not it secured?

The installer is signed with digital signiture.
