SDF files from Instant JChem to JChem for Excel

Hello,

I was wondering if JChem for Excel has the capability to import the exported .sdf files from instant JChem. I tried to do this today after updating my version of JChem for Office and I get an error about their being corrupt memory. Is this a capability that JChem for Office has? Is there an issue with how I am attempting to open data in JChem for Excel?

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the JChem for Office software and I still get there same error message. That is the extent of my troubleshooting and I'm not sure where else to go with it.

Thanks!

Hi Elli,

can I get a screen shot of the problem?

To produce this error message I do as follows:

Open Excel >> click on JChem tab >> import from file >> [file from IJC] >> import >> throws error

Could you send us the file if it is not confidential? Or if it is, could you please create one with a non-confidential structure?

Thank you!

Hi Elli,

I think you use a very old version of JChem for Excel/Office. Which version exactly?

Hello,

My version of excel is the latest and the version of JChem is 5.9.3. I've attached a dummy file that reproduces the same error.

I should also mention that this error started occurring only after I ran updates for JChem for Office.

Hi Elli,

I could import this file with the latest version of JChem for Excel 15.2.9, please upgrade to it.

Attached the imported SDF into Excel.

I'll try updating to that version and re-testing.

Last I want to ask, is there any easier way to keep up with the rolling updates without complete uninstalling that software and then installing the newer version? For instances, in Instant JChem there is a "check for updates" option. Is there anything like this in JChem for Excel?

Hi Elli,

What would you expect from "Check For Updates" functionality?
