What is the version of your Ms. Office ?

I just downloaded JChem for Office 6.2.2.491.x86 but I don't see the JChem tab on my Excel page. I am using Office 2013. What can be the problem? While installing, it asked for prerequisites for office 2007, but I ignored these. Was I wrong?

Hi Andy,

yes, you did well, you can ignore it.

Excel 2013: what Windows version do you use? in 6.2 we support only Windows7 and Office2013,

the reason is that in Windows8 the DirectX version has changed, its support will be fixed by 6.3.0, which is coming pretty soon.

Thanks Viktor. I am using Windows 8, Office 2013. I guess I will have to wait for JChem 6.3.0.

yes, but I think you do not need to wait too long, it will be out in May (middle).

I just installed JChem for Excel 6.3 (32-bits version on Windows 7 64-bits), after first having uninstalled the previous (working) version.

Now the JChem tab is missing in Excel, and I can't see JChem among the list of Add-ins.

Please advice!

I have installed Jchem for office 6.3.0.1036 on my Windows 8 (64 bits) with Office 2013. The Add-ins for Word, PowerPoint and Outlook seem to be working perfectly. The Add-in for excel (the one I actually need) can't load; it actually hangs the excel application. What can/should I do? Help.

Hi Andy,

it should be working on windows 8 64 bit, because it was tested.

We received a new environment issue  though (Windows 8.1 64 bit and Office 2013 64 bit)

Could you please confirm what bit version of your Office is?

And precisely your Windows 8 version (8.1?) otherwise lets do a screen sharing meeting where I can see your desktop.

Please let me know when you have time for it:

Hi.

I have an issue that looks very similar to this thread.

JC4XL was working fine but the add-in apparently disappeared, quite possibly following a Windows update.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the JChem Office suite - now on 6.3.1.1116 - but this hasn't solved the problem.

The JC4XL add-in doesn't automatically appear and manual addition fails - error looks to be "Load Behaviour.  Not loaded. A runtime error occured during the loading of the COM Add-in."

I am running Windows 7 Professional SP1 and Office 2010 Excel version 14.0.7128.5000.

Help, advice etc appreciated!

Best, Steve.

any feedback what you could find in the log file that possibly gives information about why and what error occurs during the start-up?

Would be nice if we could get the whole log content from your user home folder.

The link above can help you where to find the log files.

Hi Viktor,

I have installed the JChem for Office 6.3.2.1168.x64 on my windows 8 office 2013 (64 bits) but now I don't have any sign on my office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) Remember this is after the JChem for Office 6.3.0.1036 didn't work.

Do you think my machine is jinxed?

Hi Viktor,

Thanks for your help. I managed to update to Windows 8.1. But I had to install JChem for Office version 14.7.2800.396.x64. It now works beautifully. This evening I tried to install the 'update', 14.7.400.432.x64 but it did not work So I have uninstalled the 'update' and I am using the older version. Is there a particular way for installing the newer versions?

Andy

Hi Andy,

you meant you have tried out installing the : 14.8.400 ? (you wrote 14.7.400).

We have a new one 14.8.1100 (in every week around Tuesday or Wednesday).

The proper way of upgrading is to uninstall the previous version and install the new one.

You need to check the Program Files ChemAxon folder to make it empty.

You can stay with the 4.7.2800.396.x64 if you feel it more stable.

Hi,

For some reason I am back at this same situation: no JChem tab visible in Excel. The Add-ins are there, but I can't seem to be able to activate them. This is 64-bits Windows 7, 32-bits MS Office 2010, with a fresh install of JChem_For_Excel_14.11.300.1292.x86. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but this makes no difference.

I see no log file in the JChem for Excel installation folder.

Please advice!

Hi,

The Add-ins look currently like this. As you can see the JChem Excel COM Add-ins are disabled, but whatever I try I cannot enable these...I tick the 2 JChemExcel entries, then click OK. If I then return to these Add-in choices, they are unchecked again...

I can't put my finger on what has been changed, as far as I know nothing has happened with my Excel installation.

Please try to check the registry settings in registry editor:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software

Please, check the JChemExcel.JChemExcelAddin key's LoadBehavior value to 3.

Let me know, if you need help in this, also, could you, please send your windows, Office version information? Which JChem for Office version did you try to install?

May you know what went wrong...

Hi Michael,

the "No JChem Ribbon" problem can have some possible reasons:

1. The 32-bit version of JChem for Office installer was used in case of 64-bit version of Microsoft Office. It is important to match the bit version of JChem for Office/Excel with your MS Office installed on your computer. You can find here a description, how to check the bit-version of your Microsoft Office. >> In this case please uninstall the current bit version of Jchem for Office/Excel and after that please download and use the appropriate bit-version of Jchem for Office/Excel installer.

2. The Microsoft Office 2013/2016 has been installed with O365. >> In this case please uninstall Jchem for Office/Excel and reinstall the Microsoft Office 2013/2016 by using the online "Repair" functionality within  the O365. After that you can install the Jchem for Office/Excel again.

3. The COMSHIM  is not loaded >> In this case please run cmd as administrator, and then c:\Windows\System32\regsvr32.exe "c:\Program Files\ChemAxon\JChem for Excel\JChemExcel.COMShim.dll"

4. Load Behaviour is set to 0 or 1 or 2 in the registry >> In this case please Please delete the JChemExcel.JChemExcelAddin entry (the whole folder) from the HKEY_CURRENT_USER|SOFTWARE|Microsoft|Office|Excel|Addins folder in the Registry Editor.

AND

Plase make sure that the value of the LoadBehaviour is set to 3 at

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SOFTWARE|Microsoft|Office|Excel|Addins|JChemExcel.JChemExcelAddin registry key

OR (in case if you have a 64-bit version of Windows with a 32-bit version of Microsoft Office)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SOFTWARE|Wow6432Node|Microsoft|Office|Excel|Addins|JChemExcel.JChemExcelAddin registry key

After that please start Micrfosoft Exceland check if the addin is loaded or not. Please note that Registry Editor has to be run as an administrator!

Please let me know if the above described possible solutions helps you to solve the problem or not. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further assistance.

Hi,

Do you have a version of JChem for Excel that does not require tinkering of HKEY/* etc?

We are facing this issue as well. Our users are not able to adjust this themselves.

Our IT Admin have pushed out version 16.7.4 to our users using via .msi install through a microsoft software center.

With users who have Admin rights on their computer, there is no problem.  Users who do not have admin rights are not able to see JCHEM tab.  They are able to turn it on manually via the Options/AddIns and checking the COM Addin box for JChem, once Excel is closed and reopen, the tab disappears.

We fixed this by uninstalling and reinstalling JChem for Excel, therefore not needing the HKEY modification.  This would be a suitable fix for 5 users but this is not for >30 user base as this requires admin privileges each time.

Thanks,

Hi Eileen,

Please, check our documentation regarding this topic:

https://www.chemaxon.com/jchem4excel/adminguide/introduction.html

You have to log in and run RegisterJChemExcelAddIns.exe as an administrator. You can find the file on your computer after installing JCXL, it is located in C:\Program Files\ChemAxon\JChem for Excel folder or  C:\Program Files x86\ChemAxon\JChem for Excel folder.

Hope this helps, but let me know, if you need further assistance.

Regards,

Anna
