Cartridge license problem

Hi,
I'm running version 5.1.4 of the JChem cartridge on Linux, i have the XML license.cxl file in the cartridge/licenses folder, the license includes the JChem cartridge. The license is in date and the server date is correct. When i run too many cartridge queries i get the error about 'Maximum number of searchers allowed per minute is exceeded'.
I have tried running dos2unix on the license.cxl, and removing the first line with encoding info and restarting the cartridge each time.
Any ideas how i can get the cartridge to pick up my license ?
Many thanks
Alistair

Hi Alistair,
If no license file is picked up by JChem Cartridge, you'll see the following warning on the command line during JChem Server startup:
Code: |
WARNING: Directory licenses does not exist. Leaving it to LicenseHandler to check the default location for licenses. |
Do you see this warning?
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter,
No, i've not seen that error before, the server seems to start fine with no errors when i do ./server start
Thanks

Alistair,
The fact that you don't see this warning indicates that JChem Cartridge picks up some license file. Please, move away the "licenses" directory along with the license.cxl file somewhere else to see if the warning appears. If the warning appears this time round, the problem lies in the content of the license file. Does the warning appear?
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter,
I moved the license directory away and get a warning that the Directory licenses doesn't exist.
It sounds like a problem with the license file, so i deleted the license file and uploaded a new copy to the server and replaced it back in the proper directory but still get the same original error when i run a query 4 times in a minute.
Thanks

Hi Alistair,
as I see in our database, your license should allow unlimited searches.
Did you have this problem earlier or did this appear recently after installing a new license or upgrading the software?
Can you please send me your license file in e-mail to check? Maybe it differs from the one I have checked according to our registration.
(My e-mail address is visible in my forum profile.)
Kind regards,
Judit

Alistair,
Do you have JChem Base license as well? The error message looks as though you don't.
Thanks

Hi,
The license used to work before i started upgrading, though i'm not sure if it worked with 5.1.02, the last fully working version i had i think was 3.1.7.1 (!) The license covers JChem base, Judit - i'll email it over now....
Many thanks
Alistair

Hi Alistair,
the license contains a JChem Base license with 3 searches/minute, that causes the restriction.
(I was informed that I'd examined a different license in our database earlier when I wrote about the Unlimited searches license.)
In case you would like to modify this license, please contact my colleague Nora Lapusnyik.
Kind regards,
Judit

Hi,
I think there's a bit of confusion! I'm not using the Evotec license anymore, but using an academic license that allows unlimited cartridge and JChem base searches.
Many thanks

Hi,
I tried the new license you sent, but i'm afraid i still get the same problem when running more than 3 searches / minute. I did the following:
Upgraded to JChem 5.1.4 (on Linux)
Created the licenses directory in the cartridge directory
Started the server using ./server.sh start
Called the use_password procedure to set the password
Ran the following test query:
select * from myqueries where jc_compare(smarts,'CCN','t:r') =1
The query ran fine the first few times then gave the following error:
ORA-29902: error in executing ODCIIndexStart() routine
ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.rmi.ServerException: RemoteException occurred in server thread; nested exception is:
java.rmi.RemoteException: chemaxon.jchem.db.DatabaseSearchException: An error occurred while searching for CCN
Caused by:

Hi,
Have you restarted or reloaded the JChem Server after dropping the new license file in the licenses directory?
Thanks

Alistair,
Please, could you send the new license file to my e-mail address? (pkovacs at chemaxon dot com).
Thanks
