Does the JChem Cartridge install procedure on two hosts apply as well when you carry it out on a virtualization architecture ? I do not anticipate why it should'nt but if you have any experience backlog, I would be interested.

We are not aware of any problem specific to installation on virtual machines.

One recently discovered issue related to two-host installations:

Some linux firewalls return "no route to host" error message for incoming connections on unallowed ports. In such cases, firewalls have to be temporarily disabled for the duration of the JChem Cartridge installation.

Another issue related to installation in general:

The help message displayed, when you enter question mark in response to the "DBA login" prompt is incorrectly that of the corresponding message supposed to be displayed during JChem Cartridge upgrade. The correct help message for installation:

DBA login [SYSTEM]: ?

====> DBA login is required to create the JChem Cartridge owner's schema, granting the JChem Cartridge owner the require
d system privileges, creating public synonyms and optionally creating a basic role for JChem Cartridge users. If you don
't wish to specify a DBA login, please enter '!'. If a DBA login is not specified, (a) the JChem Cartridge owner's schem
a with the appropriate system privileges must be already available when starting this program, (b) creation of public sy
nonyms will be skipped.

Both problems will fixed in the upcoming JChem version 5.5.
