JChemManager connection settings dialog inactive

I'm trying to test out JChem for the first time.

I have started jcman and got the "Connecting to a database" dialog box, however i cannot enter any details, press any buttons etc, i can only close the dialog with the cross in the top right corner. I thought i'd start it in commandline mode with the relavent settings and ask them to be saved to file and hoped when i started jcman again, the dialog would contain the correct details and would be active. However, it does contain the details but i still can't press any buttons or change detials etc to enable me to access JChemManager.

Does anyone know what might be happening?

Thanks

Nathan

Very weird indeed. Could you send us your java version and operating system details?

I suggest to try another java version, for example 1.4.2_08.

This is quite stable, we use it on many different platforms without problem.

Hello, I have tried with other java versions, apparently jdk1.5.0 is buggy but jdk1.5.0_03 is OK. For 1.5.0 I got the same problem (dialog is not editable only X kill works, nothing else) but the newer release is fine. I have debian sarge (stable). Also recent 1.4 updates should be fine. Hope it helps:
