To whom it may concern,

I am atempting to use JChemBase on Linux:

$ uname -a
Linux 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5PAE #1 SMP Fri Jun 20 02:51:01 EDT 2008 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

AS soon as JChemManager starts the First Screen is unresponsive. regarless of the window Manager I use for X. I have tried Gnome, KDE and twm. The First two screens with the database information as configured through the command line is fully available, however it is imposible to click or even select the OK button to click it or confirm the settings.

I've seen the same problem on some Linux's with various java programs. If its the same problem then its java related, and nothing to do with jcman.

The problem I saw happened when running under Java 1.5, and not Java 1.6. So first I would suggest try running under Java 1.6. If you must run under 1.5 then try setting this environment variable before running:

export AWT_TOOLKIT=MToolkit

(I have no idea what this does!).

(n.b. I move this topic to the JChem forum as jcman question should be there, but as I mention, if its the problem I describe its not really jcman related).
