SInce I want to use MS access, I could understand the driver that is to be used, but I am unclear with the usage of the url to the database.
My problem is as follows
I have molecules in sdf format and I need to import them into JChem Man. Is it that the sdf file first to be brought into the MS Access. (How do I do that) and what is the concept of database url, I mean how do I setup the url for the jcman to read.
Please explain me with an example considering my sdf file is lying at C:/molecules.sdf and I have no database created.
I will be highly obliged
Thankung you

Hi Raghuvir,
We recommend to create structure tables and import compounds from a file just in the JChem Manager.
The recommended way is:
1. Connect to your database with the JChem Manager. In the case of MS Access firstly you have to create an ODBC object in the data source manager of your Windows operating system. The name of this object is necessary for the URL as the 'odbc data source'. See the FAQ: http://www.chemaxon.com/jchem/FAQ.html#dburl
2. Create a structure table with JChem Manager. You can find help for this here: http://www.chemaxon.com/jchem/doc/admin/
3. import the molecules from your structure file.

Dear Raghuvir,
I also recommend to a takre a look at Instant JChem:
http://www.chemaxon.com/product/ijc.html
It installs with a few clicks, contains an embedded database (nothing to set up), so you can easily start importing ans searching your SDfiles in a few minutes.
Best regards,
