Hi,

When registering a compound with a simple formula like Potassium Chloride (KOH), the updatehandler / Jchem base alters the formula into HKO.. And when a user searches for KOH the result will be zero hits...

Is there a way to set how this field is formatted...??

(Using jchem 5.1.04)

I understand, that KOH is a common abbreviation for potassium hydroxide, but its chemical formula is HKO according to the current standards, so we do not plan to let it "formatted", otherwise you will have no hit with the correct formula.

Why do not you create a lookup dictionary for your custom formulas? For example, the key is KOH, the value is HKO. If a user is looking for potassium hydroxide, she/he will be able to locate it by both the HKO formula, and the KOH abbreviation. You can have as many synonyms as you wish.

well the lookup - table solution will probably be the solution I end up with. Just wanted to ensure that I was not missing some built in funtionality that could solve my issue...
