Dear All,

I have un-installed my previous version (JChem 3.2.3) of cartridge and installed the version 5.0 following the procedure as described in online documentation.

I am facing problem with license as i have "license.dat" as in previous versions. How do i convert it to XML format to use the same?

I have installed cartridge under user "JCHEM" and for another user "TEST" i have executed all commands described in installation part, but i am forced to use jchem.jc_idxtype during index creation. Is there a way to avoid the same?

Can you tell me how to use the JCHEM version 5.0 with Apache Tomcat. Does it really support it?

Thanks in Advance

Anil

Dear Anil,

You cannot and do not have to. Please read the License codes issued for JChem versions prior to 5.0 subsection here: http://www.chemaxon.com/jchem/doc/admin/cartridge.html#regkey .

You have to use the old license artifacts with JChem Cartridge 5.0 in the same way as you did with JChem 3.2.3. In simple terms: you have to leave everything in its old place (including the licenses.dat file) and have to start server.sh/server.bat (instead of Tomcat) using the same user as you did for starting Tomcat with JChem 3.2.3.

If this still sounds too scary, another option is to request an XML version of your license at sales _at_ chemaxon.com and proceed as described in License files issued for JChem 5.0 or later here: http://www.chemaxon.com/jchem/doc/admin/cartridge.html#regkey .

To my knowledge, the jc_idxtype index type had to be qualified with the name of the cartridge owner's schema (JCHEM) when acting as a different user with all past JChem Cartridge versions. There is nothing new here. If you used only JCHEM with JChem 3.2.3, you can continue to do so (and you can avoid prefixing the indextype).

If you mean JChem Cartridge, you don't need any Tomcat any more. JChem Server is no more running in Tomcat, it is run in its own process which you can start with server.sh/server.bat.

If you mean JChem Base, we continue to support its use with Apache Tomcat. Nothing has changed there.

Thanks
