At the risk of being branded (again)...

but wishing to avoid...

Can you please point out if on w2003 I should try to complete the following configuration:

http://www.tjworld.net/help/kb/0001_iis6-Tomcat5-JK2.html

As it appears that currently tomcat 5.5 on w2003 server does not appear to load a large cache even with "-server -Xmx1024m" specified...

Perhaps HEAP_SIZE needs to be hard wired somewhere?

Could you please help me realise why tomcat 5.5 on w2003 does not appear to support a large cache (we have 1:3 setup and so 3GB should be available, Oracle is currently using 1.2GB).

cheers for any comments,

Daniel :)

I suggest to use a dedicated Tomcat instance with JChem Cartridge - directly, ie. without the intermediary of some other HTTP-servers. Doing so makes it easier to detect eventual problems (both functional and performance related problems) and identify their sources.

The recommended way to configure Tomcat 5.x is a bit different from how Tomcat 4.x is to be configured. Please, see the following posting:http://www.chemaxon.com/forum/viewpost4501.html#4501.

It is CATALINA_OPTS that Tomcat uses.

Recent Windows versions can be configured via a GUI.
