Calculated Fields Question

I have run into a problem with creating a calculated field.  I am trying to generate a field that will indicate the % active compound when a salt is present (e.g. an HCl salt of an amine).  I created a decimal field with the molecular wieght of the salt (e.g. HCl, 36.45) and then created a new calculated field to represent the sum of the salt field and the molecular wieght field.  This worked fine, but when I tried to create a new calculated field that would generate the percentage of the active compound, the valiadation would not proceed.  The database did not view the first calculated field as a number (the total of the salt and MW).  Is there a better way to go about doing this? Hi Benjamin,

I get the general idea of what you are trying to do, but not the detail. Could you provide examples of the calculations that you are trying to do, or even a sample zipped project with local database?
