This is quite simple to do.

Let's assume you have a decimal number that needs to be formatted to a certain number of decimal places, for instance the Mol Weight field that by default is formatted to 2 decimal places.

To change this open the grid view, select the column for the Mol Weight field and then click on the 'Customise widget settings' icon in the grid view toolbar (the icon on the right hand end of the toolbar).

This will open the settings editor for the columns of the grid view, with the Mol Weight field pre-selected. In the properties on the right hand side of the editor you will see a property for the 'Fraction digits'. Change this to whatever value you want (e.g. 1) and then close the editor.

As the values in the grid view are re-displayed you will now see them to 1 decimal place.

Dear IJC team,

Is it possible to a have scientific notation in a decimal number field?

We are using a table within  a form view. Adjusting fraction digits is working fine but a scientific notation would be even better e.g. 5.32E-8

I am using IJC 5.3.1 on Windows XP

Many thanks and all the best,

Robert

Hi Robert,

Exponential format for numbers is supported, but only since IJC 5.3.7. It is not present in 5.3.1.
