Feature request: Field with http link-out to internet

Hi,





hosting DBs like KEGG, DNP, PubCHem, ZINC or others often requires to set a link to a http:\\ resource. This can be important several DBs needs to be linked or if an internet ressource needs to be contacted.





This would somehow also need the possibility to create a http field from another field, which would require some kind of "math" on columns like in EXCEL (but we agreed not to go back to EXCEL .-) because one single column could contain a unique identifier like the PubChem id, KEGG id, links to commercial chemicals providers, large natural compound DBs etc etc. So the link would be Hyperlink("http://www.genome.jp/dbget-bin/www_bget?compound"+column 10)

If this is to complex a single option which would activate or "mark"


a text field as internet field would be also OK, so if one clicks on it

We have serveral a new field type planed for IJC, and the typs you describe are already on the list.





Current field implementations are limited to simple data types, but the concept of a field in IJC is very flexible, and will allow more complex data types such as HTML, dose response curves etc.

is there any way to create such a clickable hyperlink in a table? Even unofficial one ;) Or when are you planing to implement this feature? It is pretty important for me...

We are implementing this feature, but can't yet give an exact date/version when it will be available.

Just for completenes (this is quit an old topic) the ability to define fields that link out to the internet was added to IJC in version 3.0.
