InstantJChem webstart

Dear reader,

In a first attempt to move towards a company wide distribution of IJC via webstart I tried to launch the Java Webstart demo from the ChemAxon website. It launches the InstantJChem splash screen, but once the splash screen disappears all activity stops… No IJC window popping up.

I am using OS X 10.8.5 and Java version 8.31.

Any suggestions what might be going wrong?

yes, Java 8 is not yet supported, but we already have the code ready and the support for Java 8 will be added in near future (in matter of week/weeks).

So for now, you can do 2 things:

• Wait for the support to be added (will definitely be mentioned in the release notes) and update


• Use Java 7 instead of Java 8

I downgraded to Java 7 and indeed, now all works as expected.
