We are converting our database from ISIS. In ISIS a chiral compound will be indicated on the structure with the word "chiral." We seem to lose that information when converting to Marvin format. Is there a way to extract the chiral flag information into Marvin so the chemists will see that the structure is indeed chiral (abs) as opposed to &1/&1 (in the case of two chiral centers)?

Hi Dave,
This menu item:
View -> Misc -> R/S Labels -> Absolute stereo
will make Marvin show the R and S labels only when the chiral flag is on.
You can get the same behaviour by setting
chiralitySupport applet parameter to
selected:

In Marvin Sketch, you can see/set the chiral flag using the checkbox at:
Edit -> Attributes -> Absolute Stereo (CHIRAL).
To make this information more visible, in the future we plan to introduce a textual "Absolute" sign along with the molecule when the chiral flag is switched on.
Best regards,
Szabolcs
