Hi,
We are deploying a web app to IE7 with the JRE version 1.6.0_01. We are using Marvin 5.3.5. When we load MarvinView IE freezes and the only way to proceed is to kill the IE process. Our application works great on JRE 1.6.0_22, 26, and 29.
Unfortunately, our customer's computers are under configuration management and we are not allowed to upgrade the JRE.
Would this work better with an older release of Marvin (something that was tested and released using this old JRE)? If we did that, can we find a known issue list for that version of Marvin?
Thank you,
John

We have tested several MarvinView versions under the given platform (4.1.14, 5.0.07, 5.1.05, 5.2.06, 5.3.5, 5.4.1.2 and the latest version):
Windows XP Professional SP3 (32bit), IE7, Java Plugin 1.6.0_01
Above versions of MarvinView work fine under this platform.
Would you test your applet with the latest Marvin View version? We have fixed several bugs since 5.3.5, probably one of them solves this issue.
Have you manage to reproduce IE freezing with the latest version?
If yes, can you share your applet code where this issue occurs?
Can you give more information about your software environment?
Can you reproduce the issue with any MarvinView applet example from our site?

I guess it may be a platform specific Java bug. There are several bug reports about Java 1.6.0_01 on oracle forums where IE freezing is mentioned.
I think that the best solution would be upgrading your users machines with a newer (more stable) Java version.
