Hi,

unfortunatelly there is not support neither for OLE nor for EMF formats in Office for Mac, so currently the only option is to copy images from MarvinSketch and paste it into Word. Supported image formats are the jpg, and png formats. We are working on a solution to support the standard Mac pasteboard image format the pdf, but it is not yet implemented in Marvin.

Currently the implementation of pdf support is targeted to the next major version after 5.6.

Istvan

Hi!
Today, is there a solution to support OLE format MS Office for Mac? the pdf alternative does not linked directly the MS Office files directly in the MarvinSketch file (as is a "non-modifiable" draw).
Thank you in davance for your help.

Dear Marysa,

unfortunately, OLE copy is not supported for Mac, only for Windows. Only the pdf format can be copied into MS Office and you cannot edit the structure under Mac.

Best regards,

Dora

Ok, thank you Dora. But do you know if it is planned to have this tool (OLE copy) one day on Mac OS X?

(sorry for the triple post ;)

Oh… there is no support for
OLE formats in Office for Mac. The pdf alternative does not linked directly the
MS Office files directly.
Only the pdf format can be
copied into MS Office but you cannot edit the arrangement in Mac.

Hi,

To clarify the situation:

The OLE editing functionality that works in Microsoft Office for Windows, is not implemented by Microsoft in the Office for Mac software. Microsoft also do ot support or develop the OLE technology even on the Windows platform anymore, it is working as it is. So this kind of integration can not be created on the Mac platform with Office for Mac.

Office for Mac 2004 and Office for Mac 2010 however contains a mechanism that pastes and copies the metadata container along with the image in pdf format, when transferring images via the system clipboard. Unfortunatelly the guys missed this feature from Office for Mac 2008.

Marvin since 5.8.0 uses this mechanisms and store the molecule data in the metadata container of the PDF document copied to the clipoard, and tries to retrieve it when a pdf is pasted into Marvin.

This means that the following scenario should work with Office for Mac 2004 and 2010: draw a structure, copy and paste it into an Office document, then copy the image from the docuemnt, and paste it back into Marvin.

I hope this helps to clarify the situation.

Istvan
