2D rotation of a structure is not saved or printed

Hi,

The subject line says it all. I was working with R-groups and wanted to orient the attachment point the same for all structures. I fixed each by 2D rotation, but when I saved the file or printed it, the images reverted to the original. To get a proper figure for a report I had to grab the corrected image and save it as a .pdf.

Attached are the following files:

original.sdf

saved.pdf

correct.pdf

Oh, I can attach only one file. I will use the original. My goal was to have all the methyl groups (on singly substituted compounds) pointing up.

Hi Yvonne,

I apologize for the late reply. The problem is that the 2D rotation in MarvinView rotates only the view, so it is not saved into the file, and the print also works from the file. The solution is to use the Edit > Structure function, and rotate the structure in the appearing MarvinSketch window.

I attached the corrected file (I hope I properly rotated the structures).

Best regards,

Akos

Another solution is to highlight the rotated structure, cut it, and paste it back.  When you paste it back, the coordinates in the underlying file will convert to the new view.
