Can any one explain the difference between acceptor site and acceptor count? For a given compound how they differ from each other?

Sorry. I am new to this kind of stuff.

Hi,

Here is a little hint which may be not included in the  calculator's help:

"Acceptor count" = The sum of acceptor atoms. An acceptor atom always has a lone elctron pair which is capable for hydrogen bonding.

"Acceptor sites" = The sum of the lone pairs of  the acceptor atoms.

For example: On the attached figure the neutral molecule has 6 "acceptor sites". At low pH value the molecule is protonated ,therefore, the number of the lone pairs will be decreased and this is why the "acceptor sites" also decreased.

"Donor count" =  The sum of the atoms which have hydrogen donor property.

"Donor  sites" = The sum of the hydrogen atoms joined to the the donor atoms.

The "Donor sites" depend on the pH value. At low pH the molecule is protonated this is why the "Donor sites"   increased. At higher pH value the "Donor sites" is decreased since the molecule is deprotonated.

May be the next text will be useful as well.
