Copy as ...

If I want to copy a molecule that I drew in Marvin into Word, I need to use Save as ... to save a copy to disk, open up the new file, copy the image, and then paste it into Word. If I just copy the molecule and paste it into Word, I get the source code for the molecule (SMILES, XML, etc.)

It would be much easier if there were a Copy as ... option in the File menu. I could Copy as JPEG, for example, then paste the JPEG into Word.

Yes, it is a bug but we have already fixed it.

Some Winword versions prefer the text format over the image format when you paste a structure from Marvin.

The bugfix will be available in the next Marvin release. The pre-release of Marvin 4.0 already contains this bugfix.

At the prerelease site referenced above, I drew benzene, selected it, copied it, and pasted it into Word 2004 for Mac. The SMILES string appeared. So either the bug has not been fixed, or it has only been fixed for certain OS/WP combinations.

I have done it. I have uploaded a new pre-release (4.0alpha5) with the bugfix.
