Copying a name in the "copy as" process did not works in marvinsketch 5.3.01 under mac os x

(macbook os x 10.6.2).

In addition the possibility to enter a molecule using the paste icon that works fine in the 5.2.6 version did not works on marvinsketch 5.3.01

Can you give more details about this issue?

- Do you use applet or application?

- Have you got a IUPAC naming license?

- Are there any error message on the console? (If you use applet, error message can display in the popup Java console or in the system console. If you use application, launch it by msketch or mview script from the bin directory of Marvin package. In this case, error message displays in the terminal window.)

Tamas--we are having the same issue with all copy/paste functions in MarvinSketch 5.3.1. In the local implementation (not the applet), the Paste button does not appear to work. I can paste into Word, ChemDraw, etc. fine, but cannot copy/paste within MS.

The applet works fine, but I'd prefer to use the desktop program! I'm experiencing the same issue on both Mac Snow Leopard (I'm not sure of the exact version; it's the latest version of OS X 10.6) and Leopard (10.5.8).

Also, pasting into 5.3.1 from 5.2.x versions of the MS applet does not work. There seem to be some forward compatibility issues with MRVs created in older versions.

Thanks for the bug report.

We know about this issue (other users have also reported it).

We have already fixed it. The next release will continue this bugfix. This release is expected in a week.

The problem is that certain files are missing from the OS X installer.

Until the next release, I can recommend the following workaround:

Download the cross platform version of Marvin Beans package (marvinbeans-5_3_01.zip) and unwrap it to somewhere on your machine. Then copy those jar files from its lib subdirectory whose name start with "izmcom-" to the same place into your installed Marvin Beans package (/Applications/ChemAxon/MarvinBeans/lib/).

Worked like a charm! Thanks Tamas!

I got it to work by ensuring I use Paste Special and select picture.  But is there a way to have a transparent background?  Copying as png, pdf or emf doesn't work (paste/paste special commands are not available). Thanks.

EMF and PDF are not pastable (we do not know about any application that supports pasting these kind of images). That's why we have removed EMF and PDF from Copy As list under OS X in Marvin 5.3.2.

PNG and JPEG images that Marvin places to the clipboard are not transparent.

We will check the opportunity to add transparency for these pictures and how potential receiver applications handle these images.

By the way, Marvin 5.3.2 are going to be available in a couple of days.

Hi Ronald,

Just in case you are not aware of this: if you copy a Marvin (OLE) object and paste it to any MS Office application, the result is a transparent image (the image on the top of the OLE object is a transparent EMF picture).

Cheers,

Just realized that this topic is about MAC: than my suggestion is useless; apologies.

Just to clearify the situation.

EMF and OLE copy are supported only under Windows system. Both EMF and OLE uses transparent image.

Under, Mac JPEG and PNG copy are enabled that are not transparent in this moment.
