The remote location of the charge is still a problem, even in Marvin 5.4.0. You need to place the charge closer to the atom to which it belongs, even when displaying lone pairs.

It's been more than a year since i made this request. It's a fundamental esthetic problem that will bother a lot of users. I hope you will move it up on your priority list.
