Hi,
I'm running on Ubuntu Linux distribution and using firefox 3 as web navigator.
On this web page http://www.drugbank.ca/search/chemquery, I need MarvinSketch applet as mentionned here http://www.drugbank.ca/about.
What do i need to use DrugBank ChemQuery ???
I downloaded and installed marvinbeans-5_2_03_2-linux.sh.
Marvin works as an application but not in Firefox...
I saw that there is a Marvin Applet to download but in the Installation Guide it says that we must have a server as TomCat...I dont think that i need a TomCat Server just to look at Drugbank !!!
So how add MarvinSkecth to Firefox ???
Thanx

Dear Fabrice,
can you please confirm if I understood well that you do not need to install Marvin on your own server, but you just want to use the DrugBank web page?

That's right
I have openjdk-6-jre, openjdk-6-jre-headless and openjdk-6-jre-lib, version 6b11-2ubuntu2.1...

ok, I uninstalled MarvinBeans from my directory because I dont need it.
I installed the GCJ Web Browser Plugin (using IcedTea) 1.0.
Now, this page is ok :
http://nist.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Mountain/d/-7/java
So my java plugin is working.
Now if I go to the ChemQuery Drugbank web page I have this pop-up :
By clicking on more info, we have this pop-pup :
and "certificate details" says :
I go back to the first pop-up and click on "Run" button.
A message appears in the firefox bottom bar : "uninitialised applet" and nothing happen...

If I understand well the situation, there is a problem with the certification.
Probably, you use an out of date Marvin (you refer to an ancient Marvin version or an old Marvin is cached into your Java cache). The validity of certifications are 2 years. If you use a two years old Marvin, its certification has been already expired. In this case, browser will warning you about it.
I recommend to update to the latest Marvin.
If expiration date is correct. It worth to check jar file validity. Are you sure that you have not modified Marvin jars? If you modify jar contents, it looses trusted status and browser handles it as a corrupt file.
I can also imagine that GCJ plugin can not handle properly signed applets. In that case, I recommend to substitute it to Sun distributed Java plugin.

I dont understand...
I must install locally Marvin to use it on a distant web page as drugbank ???
I thought that the applet was loaded from the distant web page.
This morning I booted on a Windows XP session and drugbank ChemQuery works fine without installing locally Marvin...

Sorry, I missunderstood something. I believed that you also administrate the Drugbank site.
We have checked the Drugbank site. Applet loads fine for us on that site. As I see, Drugbank site uses Marvin 5.1.1. The expiration date of the certification in this release is 2010. So the validity of the license can not be the problem.
I assume that rejecting trusted certificate can cause the problem. I recommend to accept ChemAxon trusted certificate permanently when applet asks it again.
If it does not help, it means that your GCJ Java plugin can not handle properly signed applets.
In this case, removing GCJ plugin and install Sun distributed Java plugin can be the solution.
We are continously testing Marvin applets under Linux with Sun Java and it works fine.
Anyway, we highly recommend to use Sun distributed Java since we can provide support for only this Java distro.
