Hi, I'm having a few difficulties with marvinspace applet.

This page is not displayed firefox 3.5 on mac os x 10.5 with latest update of java.

The same page can be viewed in Safari 4.0, but reloading the page might hangs your browser.

Do you have any idea what might causing this problem?

Thanks,

Dear Sunhwan,

We are sorry for the inconveniences. Could you check the mspace applet examples at http://www.chemaxon.com/marvin/examples/applets/space/index.html ?

Hi Gabor,

Thanks for pointing the examples. Actually, the website was built a year or two ago and worked fine all along. I recently upgraded marvinspace to 5.2 (maybe? the latest one), and I'm starting to have difficulty. Yes, lot of things are changed so far, browsers, OS, etc. So, I can't say which one is causing trouble.

In fact, when I visited the first example with firefox 3.5, it works fine. But below is my quick review of examples.

1. the first example does not reload in Safari 4.0.2 (Mac OS X 10.5.7). It says "initialization error". Firefox is okay.

2. the seventh example (secondary structure) loads okay in Safari 4.0.2, but hangs when I reload. The same thing happens with Firefox 3.5.

Thanks,

Sunhwan

Dear Sunhwan,

Thank you for the prompt reply. It seems that this problem is related to a known issue: http://www.chemaxon.com/marvinspace/html/faq.html#question3 says:

I got a dialog that displays: "Native libraries are already loaded by another applet".
This is due to the known issue: one applet works at a time. Closing all browser windows and restarting solves this.

A quick test revealed that repeated refresh attempts after the error message might result in a working applet, however restarting the browser seems to be a valid workaround.

Thanks again for the error report,

Regards,

Gabor

Gabor, I know the known issue that you posted before, but this is different from that one. In my case, it does not display any message dialog and the browser becomes unresponsive so I have to force quit my browser after just one refresh.

Dear Sunhwan,

Sorry for the misunderstanding and thanks again for checking the examples. We are planning to utilize new openGL related features of java 1.6 to avoid problems displaying menus (as in http://www.chemaxon.com/forum/ftopic5109.html&highlight= ). We hope this will fix the hangup problem.

Regards,

Gabor
