menus behind canvas in MarvinSpace

Hi,

I would like to report two problems I noticed while using MarvinSpace 5.2.0 on a Mac intel (Mac OS X 10.5.6):

1) Help -> Contents displays correctly the table of contents, but when I click on the links, the text is truncated at the right edge of the window, and keeps truncated even if resize the window.

2) When I click in any of the menus (from "File" to "Help"), I only see the first two commands (that is, in the File menu, I see File->Open and File ->Add, but not Open from RCSB PDB, Save screen, etc that the help refers to). The remaining options are BEHIND the black canvas (and they are active).

Any workaround, especially for the second problem?

Thanks,

Rui Rodrigues

Hi,

we are still investigating the two problems you reported. We check MacOSX 10.4.11 and 10.5.5, though 10.5.6 not yet. No conclusion yet, but it would be important to know your java version and also the JOGL version. Did you install JOGL (Java OpenGL library) before you installed the Marvin package?

The best would be to start mspace in command line (in a terminal window) with the -v flag, that reports many relevant information. It'd be most helpful for us if you could copy and paste the output of mspace (written in the terminal window) in a forum message.

Thank you for your cooperation and apologies for any inconvenience.

Hi,

I switched back to version 5.1.3_2 because of another problem with 5.2.0 (see here: http://www.chemaxon.com/forum/ftopic4679.html ), but I still see the same problems with this older version. Java was installed before Marvin. I don't know where to search for the jogl version but it seems its printed on the mspace output...

Here is the output of java -version and mspace -v (5.1.3_2):

MacPro:~ jrui$ java -version

java version "1.5.0_16"

Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_16-b06-284)

Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_16-133, mixed mode, sharing)

MacPro:~ jrui$ mspace -v

Native directory is /Users/jrui/.chemaxon/lib/jogl_1.1.0-rc2

NativeLibLoader disabled.

Jogl libraries have been loaded.

JOGL specification version 1.1.0-rc2

JOGL implementation version 1.1.0-rc2

JOGL implementation vendor Sun Microsystems, Inc.

sun.java2d.noddraw: true

jogl.GLContext.noopt: true

Using AWT thread for performing OpenGL work in javax.media.opengl implementation

OpenGL Renderer = NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT OpenGL Engine

OpenGL Version = 2.0 NVIDIA-1.5.36

OpenGL Vendor = NVIDIA Corporation

Here are two screenshots from mspace 5.1.3_2 (similar to 5.2.0):

Please let me know if you need more info.
