We've had some users unable to load the MarvinSketch 5.04 applet in FireFox 3.0. Have you had any other reports of compatibility issues between MarvinSketch applet 5.x and Firefox 3.x?

We know about a Firefox compatibility issue under Windows Vista.

Actually, our users were running XP, so in this case it's not an issue with MS Vista

Can you describe in details what means that they cannot load MarvinSketch applet?

Does the browser become frozen? Or probably, it crashes?

Or only the applet does not display but anything else works on the same page?

Are there any error message on the Java console?

Does MarvinView work in the same environment?

Are there any applet that runs fine on those machines?

Can you give the version of Java Plugin where this problem is occured?

Hi Tamas,

I will get back to you with some more details, but the user was running Java v.1.6.0.6. It turns out that he loaded the MarvinSketch applet successfully in Internet Explorer 7, and once he did that, he was able to load it in Firefox 3.0. Also, I was able to successfully load the applet in Firefox 3.0. So the user's claim that there are compatibility issues with that particular version of Firefox appears to be mistaken.

I'm not sure, but it seems like there are some problems with initializing the applet. I'll find out more about the specific circumstances of this latest problem and pass the info along.

Thanks

Does this problem occure only with the specified Marvin version? Is it reproducable with earlier Marvin versions?
