Installation problem on windows XP

I have attempted to run the marvinbeans-4_1_13-windows.exe installer on a windows XP system. The installer proceeds just so far and then a dialog appears saying, "the .jar file could not be created, try again?".





I have j2re1.4.2 and jdk1.6.0_05 installed. From the log files it appears that it is trying to start \java\jre1.6.0_02\bin\java.exe, which is there, but I do not believe is the default java since j2re1.4.2 is installed.





Any ideas on how to proceed? I have included the i4j_nlog_2 log file from .\local settings\temp if the helps

It is not clear for me when failed the install process (before selecting target directory to install or after that)?





Probably you don't have write access to the target directory where you tried to install Marvin (if the error invoked after selecting target directory). In this case, try to choose an other destination.


If installers fails immediately after start, it means that the installer tried to launch a wrong Java.


By starting, the installer collects information about installed JRE-s from the Windows registry and selects one of them to use it during the install process.





I suggest to use the Marvin Beans installer with bundled Java (marvinbeans-4_1_13-windows_with_jre.exe) if the current one can not start properly.


This installer does not require any installed Java, uses the bundled one to install Marvin and set this private Java for Marvin application.
