MarvinBeans.jar compatibility with java jre 1.5.*

We have a Java Swing app. that uses Marvin Sketch and Marvin View to handle chemical entities. We use MarvinBeans.jar 3.5.4, but the problem we have is that we can not work with a java jre higher than 1.4.* due to compatibility issues. We now need to run the app. with jre 1.5.* ... is there a newer version of MarvinBeans.jar compatible with the latest jre 1.5.* releases? Where could I get it?

3.5.4 is an very old version of Marvin. I recommend you to update to the latest one (4.1.0).


Since 3.5.4 version, there has been a lot of improvements and bug fixes in Marvin.

Marvin Beans supports 1.3.1 and higher Java versions (also Java 1.5.x).


What kind of compatibility issue have you found? Several users runs Marvin with 1.5.x JRE without problem.

Thanks fo the quick response, I'm downloading it right now and will give it a try.





The issue we had is very apparent: if we run the app. under java 1.5.*, the Marvin Sketch window won't open after clicking on the area designated to launch it ... if we run it with java 1.4.* it works perfectly.





Maybe we are handling the launch of the editor somehow incorrectly, or could be an incompatibility of 3.5.4 with much more recent java versions ...

I've tested version 4.1.0 and works fine with jre 1.5.* .... problem solved!
