When using a MViewPane to allow a user to specify a structure the user must double click on the MViewPane to open the sketcher. The first time the user does this the it takes a long time for Marvin Sketch to appear (about 4 seconds) and no feedback (e.g. hour glass) is given that someething is happening. Is this normal, and can it be improved?

The hourglass appears for me at double click (I have tried the jtable Marvin Beans example). I have got a 2.66MHz Intel Celeron.
On which hardver did you test it?

I've tried on Linux and XP, and don't see a hourglass on either.
This is using a MViewPane in a Java app, and double clicking on the panel to open a Marvin Sketch window.

Can you give me the parameters of your Linux and Win machines (CPU, RAM)?

I've tried this with the following systems, no hour glass seen with any.
2.8GHz Pentium 3, 1GB RAM running:
1. Windows 2000
2. Linux (Fedora Core 5)
1.7GHz Centrino, 1GB RAM running:
1. Windows XP
2. Linux (Fedora Core 5)
In a simple test program I see no hourglass whilst the MarvinSketch frame is being displayed. Then once the frame is there there some feeback as the contents of the frame gets initialized.
