If I make a drawing in MarvinSketch 16.6.20 (Mac desktop version), copy the drawing, and paste it into MS PowerPoint, it looks fine. But if I save the PowerPoint, then reopen it, the picture is replaced with the big red X shown below. I can copy the MarvinSketch drawing as a PNG image, and then I don't see the big red X, but if I later copy the image from PowerPoint, I can't paste it back into MarvinSketch for reediting. This problem appears to be a fairly new development, as I have previously used MarvinSketch to make PowerPoint slides.
Additional information: This problem does not occur in MarvinSketch 15.4.27, but it does occur in MarvinSketch 15.11.23 and later.

Thank you for reporting this bug. Unfortunately, I cannot promise a quick fix. I suggest using copy as png, or jpeg until then. They should work.
Best regards,

They work, but the resolution is worse, and I cannot copy the structure from PowerPoint, paste it into Marvin, and edit it.
What works better is reverting to Marvin 15.4.27 when making PowerPoints.

Hello,
Can you please check this with the most recent 6.27 version? Works on my Mac. Thanks!

Youre right, it does work properly in 16.6.27! How strange.

Well, I found an example of a drawing that shows the same problem when I open it in MarvinSketch 16.6.27, paste it into PowerPoint, then quit PowerPoint and reopen it.

Thanks for pointing this out, it is reproduced on our side. As a workaround can you please copy paste in different image format until it is fixed? By default on a Mac we are using pdf, but if you hit Ctrl + K you can chose from the others.

Again, the problem with using images is that I can't paste the image back into MarvinSketch to edit it. (Right?) I'll just use Marvin 15.4.27 until you fix this problem. In any case, the newer versions also make it very difficult to draw electron-flow arrows to incipient bonds in crowded drawings, as I have noted elsewhere on this forum.

Hi,
Here you mention 2 problems:
1. certain structures do not display after copy during the action path of "Marvin/paste into PP/save PP/read PP"
2. images cannot be pasted back to Marvin for editing
As to the second problem: there is a 3rd party solution for it that can be integrated into Marvin. Please refer to the available documentation on our site:
https://docs.chemaxon.com/display/docs/Image+Import+in+Marvin
Regarding the first problem Krisztian already gave a workaround. The default pdf copy does fail for certain stuctures which requires deeper investigation on our part.

Any progress on this front? The workaround is not acceptable to me, so I am continuing to use an old version of Marvin (15.4.27) until this bug is sorted out.

I am using the latest version of PowerPoint for Mac 2011, version 14.7.1. It still displays the problem.
The fact that I can paste a picture from Marvin 15.4.27, but not from Marvin 16.8.8, tells me that the problem is less likely in PowerPoint and more likely introduced into one of the more recent versions of Marvin.

It may seems so at first that the problem is with Marvin, but if we consider the workaround mentioned in one of the posts (being careful with characters used in certain pdf property) it is quite possible that a change in our or some 3rd party code exposed the bug in PP.
To chase a bug or the effect of a change like this is not necessarily trivial and other items on our todo list have precedence.
Thank you for your understanding.
Kind regards

ps. Does "PowerPoint for Mac 2011 " mean the latest MS Office 2016?

No, it means MS Office 2011 for Mac.
I will download MS Office 2016 and see if it solves the problem.

I upgraded to Office 2016 for Mac. I created the attached MRV in MarvinSketch 16.8.8 (Mac desktop version). I highlighted all, copied, pasted into PowerPoint. I saved the PP file, closed it, then reopened it. The result was the attached screen shot.
