In Marvin 15.8.10, when I put Na on the canvas, it comes with a radical state of Off, but it has no charge and is not highlighted as having a valence error. Any group 1 element should either arrive with a radical state of Monovalent, or it should be highlighted with a valence error.

Hello,

Thank you for your comment. MarvinSketch is a chemical editor (in its pure way) featuring an arsenal of drawing elements. Therefore it "only" allows the user to specify that an atom in a molecule is a radical and if yes its state can be defined. It does not calculate the radical state of alkali metals on the fly. Having said that, we are very grateful for receiving feedback from expert users like yourself.

Best,

if you are not going to make Na a radical if it is placed ont he canvas by itself, then you need to give it a valence error, just like you do when you put H on the canvas by itself.

Thank you for your suggestion, but currently it is not a high priority issue. Maybe up for the future though, once others are solved.
