Hi,

I suppose your question refers to the carboxylate ion.

Actually you have two options:

1. it is possible to create an alias where the underlying atom is not changed i.e. C, only its label. This is an easy way to write out a label of your choice. You can find here  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ3G8009eyo a short tutorial how to use the atom label tool. The Alias atoms is the 2nd part starting 1min 50s. For more information see https://docs.chemaxon.com/display/marvinsketch/Atom+Label+Editor

2. use abbreviated (superatom group). In this case a text abbreviation replaces the chemical structure which can be visualize any time. Please note that MarvinSketch has a default library of the more common abbreviated groups, which can be reached from the Insert menu or an actual group can be placed on the canvas by typing its abbreviation. This library however does not contain carboxylate anion only COOH, so you have to create this group. Form more information see https://docs.chemaxon.com/display/marvinsketch/Abbreviated+%28superatom%29+groups

Please find attached a file with both solutions. To display the structure use 'Expand Group/Contract Group' options from the contextual menu opened by right-clicking.

Please feel free to contact me if you need any further information.
