sluggish response after drag and drop

Desktop Marvin 15.3.2 on MacOS 10.2.2 on MacMini mid-2011. If I highlight a structure, option-click-hold on the highlighted structure (using a Mac), drag, and release to copy the structure, then subsequent actions lead to a very sluggish response from Marvin. For example, see the attached figure. I drew proline and a graphical arrow, duplicated the proline structure as described above, modified it as shown, drew another graphical arrow, then tried to draw a cyclopentane and rotate it counterclockwise by 90°. Marvin's response was so sluggish that I couldn't get the cyclopentane to rotate. Even resizing the window was very sluggish.

The Marvin 15.2.16 applet in a Web page does not appear to have the same problem, nor does the Marvin 15.3.23 applet at your demo site.

Dear Bob,

We have been working on speed issues lately since we had enormous changes and that caused major slow-down in the system. If I can guess the version you have tried contained these changes without the fixes.

I updated, and yes, the response is much less sluggish now. Köszönöm.

MarvinSketch 15.3.30 is unusable (Mac OS X 10.10.2). As more operations are performed (particularly copy / paste) the app runs progressively slower until in crashes and all work is lost. If left 'crashed' for more than a minute without performing a force-quit, entire system becomes locked-up.

Hi,

we are aware of this issue, and a few more regarding performance, and working on it constantly in the recent weeks, it is still not perfect yet, I hope we can solve this issues within the next few weeks, as well as some special format related issues that also affects copy and paste on Mac systems.

Currently I can not really suggest any solution, other than wainting a few releases and for that time possibly downgrade Marvin to one of the January releases.

Hi,

it seems we were able to find the main causes of the performance issues, and we also find some improvements that will result in a performance gain in the next few weeks.

I can say currently MarvinSketch work way better then it was in the recent releases.

We would really appreciate your feedback if you have some time to play around with the 15.4.6 release that is going to be published later this week.

Thank you for the report, and patience!

Best regards,
Istvan

The 15.4.13 version of JChem has resolved the performance and crashing problems. Thanks!
