Hi there,

We have an issue with the newest java update 1.7.0_55 for Marvin applets.  Even on your own site I am getting "publisher cannot be verified" and despite clicking on ok, the applet will never load. (http://www.chemaxon.com/marvin/sketch/index.php)   We are observing the issue on IE 9.

As you can appreciate this is an urgent issue!

When clicking on more information we get:

Dear Megan!

We could not reproduce this issue, could you support us with more information:

Update:

Could you try to delete your Java cache?

Hi there,

I seem to have isolated the problem.  This issue only occurs on windows machine which is 64bit where the user is the 32bit version of IE.  Windows 7 have both the 32bit and 64bit version.  On my windows 7 machine it works fine on the 64bit but the 32bit version exhibits the problems shown below.

We have a large user base and this could be an issue as 64bit machines are much more common, and windows does present the 32bit version as the default.

Many thanks

Megan

Dear Megan,

Just to clarify: you could only reproduce the problem on a 64bit Windows 7 with a 32bit Internet Explorer 9. Is that correct?

Hi,

I don't have access to all operating systems, but  64bit windows 7 on 32bit IE is the only one I have seen it on. I don't have access to windows 8, IE 10 - so have not tested it on that platform.

Thanks

Megan

Dear Megan,

We have tried to reproduce your problem on several machines, which is a very slow process, since we have to downgrade to these special circumstances. Unfortunately none of the machines have provided any similar responds. (There still can be some Windows updates, or anything that are not the same on the different machines.) Could we arrange a TC to the first half of the next week (the second half will be holiday in Hungary), to Monday preferably, when we could see, how the problem occurs on your system, and we can have a deeper understanding of the problem?

According to my experience, this error is related to jdk version. I have solved nearly all the problems like "publisher cannot be verified".

For JDK version higher than 1.6.0 and below 1.6_15, you can just clear all kinds of cache in web browser, java console and java control panel. Then it should works fine!

For JDK version between 1.6_15 and 1.6_30, you should disable the "next-generation java" option in java control panel.

For JDK version higher than 1.6_30, you should turn on "next-generation java" option in java control panel.

If you are using non-IE web browser, recommend use JDK version higher than 1.7.0 and newer Marvin applets package.

If you turn off the "next-generation java" option in java control panel for JDK version higher than about 1.6.30, e.g. 1.7_65, then you can surely reproduce the error:

"publisher cannot be verified"

Hello experts,

It's my pleasure to share the experience with chemaxon users. Please note that I can run marvin fine with JDK 1.6_30, so version 1.6_30 is just a upper limit of JDK that should turn off next generation java option.

For any similar error, just try to clear cache and temporary files, then switch on/off the option, it should works!
