Hello,
is there a Maven repository available for the Marvin Beans?
Currently I just put (almost) all jar files into our internal repository, but that is very laborious and the handling of dependencies to "standard" libraries is difficult.
Best regards,
Mike

Hello Mike,
Not yet, but we expect to provide it in the near future.
We have been working on transforming all of our legacy code to a new build system which supports publishing artifacts into a Maven repository. We are in the middle of this process, hopefully it will finish within 1 or 2 months. It has already been in use internally, so it is likely that we will be able to make the releases available in our public Maven repository shortly after the transition is finished.
Best regards,

Hello Gabor,
Do you have some new time lines on this?

Hello Mike,
Our public repository is not yet officially ready for production.
However, JChem jar has already been available here, including its 3rd party dependencies. This is rather a jchem-all jar file, it contains all jchem binaries.
If you like, we can provide access to the repository to try it - please send an email to buildteam at chemaxon.com if you are interested. Your feedback would be appreciated.
MarvinBeans jar has not yet published, but it is likely that we can do it similarly to jchem in version 6.3, which is in beta-testing phase.
Additional information about the current state of the repository:
- Javadoc is currently not available.
- Only officially released versions are published here.
Transformation, mentioned earlier, to a new build system is not fully completed in 6.3, it is expected in 6.4. This could make packaging and dependency handling better.
Best regards,
Gabor

Hello Gabor,
What is the current status of the Maven repository?

Hello Mike,
As you may know we switched to frequent releases a couple of months ago, which needed most of our capacity and also needs some currently. Consequently the progress of this issue became slower. However, we have been keeping the existing repository up-to-date including the javadoc.
Best regards,
Gabor

Just checking on the status of this. I would very much like to use maven, but haven't started because this is a key dependency for my application.

Hello,
We are working on the user registration and authentication.
The current plan is that all necessary Maven information will be available on the download page of JChem suite and registered users will be able to request access to the repository.
Since every release is available there from 6.0 (or so), you can request a test account before we are done with the user registration. If you are interested, please let us know, email: buildteam at chemaxon.com.
Best regards,

Hi there,
Have you got any further with the Maven repository? I'm assuming that the jars could be distributed through Maven without inviolating the licence? (They wouldn't work for non-licensed users, I guess).
This would be an *immensely* useful feature.
Best wishes,
Neil Swainston, PhD.

Hi,
For the time being, you can request access to the repository as described here.
Only JChem is available here, which contains all the Marvin libraries.
Best regards,
Gabor

Hello,
would it be possible to get the MarvinBeans as jar (with dependencies) instead of the bundled zip package (or additional to it)?
That would make our builds much smaller (no duplicate libraries) and the actual version of the used library more predictable.
Currently we use some of the libraries too, but in a different version. In the development environment that is resolved fine, but in production there are both versions (jar-files) in the class path, which makes trouble-shooting difficult.
Best regards,
Mike

Hi,
We are working on a better public maven repo deployment, in which you can include products or even modules as a jar with transitive dependencies.
Fortunately we get more and more user feedback lately, that makes the planning much more easier.
We would like to create an easy to use repository withe small jars. It will take some time, but finally we have a solution in mind that would satisfy most of our users. It will take some time.
Sorry for the current inconvenience, please hang in there, we are on it.
Regards,
István
