Dear all,

Do the marvin beans allow to open files located on the networks ? (eg 'networks places' under windows). We could not do it using the last beans and both win2000 and winXP.

Thanks

Use the "File->Open" menu. I have managed to open a file on a remote machine in the same Microsoft Network. Marvin's "Open" dialog works like any "Open" dialog in other applications.

Dear Tamas,

Thank you for your answer. When using the beans, we still have trouble on win2000 (the applets work fine). Would you need more infos about the environment ?

Probably, it can be in a configuration problem of your machine. Are you sure if you are right to see the proper remote folder.

Have you tried mapping remote network folder as a local drive?

Open Explorer, go to the proper remote folder then take a right-click and select "Map Network Drive..." from the pop-up menu.

After that, the proper network folder will be displayed as a local drive in your file system.

Propably, it will help. But, normally, Java should access remote folders in all cases.

The current user of the beans is not willing to map the network as a local drive.

What surprises me is that the applets access properly the remote folders, while the beans do not (on this particular win2000 machine).
