Hello!
I recently installed MarvinBeans. I can't open the prefrences to customize marvinsketch. Have anyone else encoutered this problem? I get no error messages from either the application or the system.
I am running MarvinBeans 5.11.5 (end user and java devel. version) on MacOS 10.7.5
Best regards
/Johan.

Dear Johan!
Could you tell us which Java version you have?

Terribly sorry omitting this information.
It seems to be 14.0 for Jar Bundler, Java VisualVM and 14.5 for Jar Launcher, Java Web Start. Versions as reported by system information.

/Johan

And I also need to know, whether you have a 32 or a 64 bit operating system.

I could not reproduce it. I have java 1.6.037 installed on my System. Please could you check your java version by typing java -version into your terminal?

It might be worth mentioning that I have a swedish version of the operating system.

I think the language of your OS shouldn't matter. Do other dialogs open in your Sketch? Periodic table, save, Format, Source?

I havn't noticed any problems with other dialogs that prefrences. For prefrences I tried to open the dialog both using the menu and the keyboard combination.
Is there any other system information that might be useful for you?
Would it be possible to manually edit the prefrences?

Could you please try to run it from terminal with the msketch comamnd, instead of the MarvinSketch.app? If you do so you can see if an unhandled exception is writen out during execution, and we might can say something more... We are kind a helpless here, at this point this just doesn't make sense for us... but we try to figure it out!

I meant this command:
/Applications/ChemAxon/MarvinBeans/bin/msketch
If you have installed the Sketch to the default positon...

We still can not reproduce this situation, and don't have any idea why it can happen. Have you tried to reinstall it? would you update to the latest Mac OS X Java (Java 6 and Java 7)?

I just realized that I used the "wrong" prefrences. On the Mac I tried to use the prefrences available throug the "marvinSketch" meny (next to the apple). The prefrence in the edit menu works perfect..
I'm sorry to have caused the trouble.

I know of several people who had the same problem. On all Mac apps the default location for the preferences is the dropdown menu from the application name. Since you have "Preferences" as a menu item and a shortcut described I think it would be a good idea to link it up. You can still keep the menuitems in the editmenu.

Hi,
yes, it is on our future features list, I could not promise a delivery date now, but we will implement this linking in one of the upcoming releases.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Istvan
