Excel add in file not recognised

I recently installed JChem for excel on my computer and it works perfectly. I then tried to install it on another PC in our office but it has failed to install. I have tried the usual uninstall and re install but the same problems occur.

The add in is not showing on Excel panel, nor is it showing up in the list of available add ins, and when I try to add the file (JChemExcel.COMshim.dll) the error message states that it is not a valid add in.

This is a new PC with windows 8.1 so I am wondering if there is a compatibility issue?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hello Lisa,

Is the .NET framework 3.5 enabled on that computer?

See this link how to do it: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh506443%28v=vs.110%29.aspx />under "Enabling the .NET Framework 3.5 in Control Panel"

Please let me know if this helps or not.

Best regards,

Hi Gabor,

Thank you for your quick reply.

Yes the .NET framework 3.5 is enabled on the computer, so unfortunately that is not the problem.

Do you have any other suggestions that may help?

Kind regards,

Lisa

As it turned out, there is 64-bit Office on that machine which is not supported by version 6.1.x.

Next release (6.2.0) will support 64-bit Office.
