why are both [C] and "C" displayed as CH4?

Hi all,

I recently noticed something strange with Marvin. When I load the SMILES string C, and [C], they are both displayed as a Carbon with four hydrogen atoms. I expect it from C but not from [C]. As an analogous scenario, I tried O and [O]. While O is diplayed with 2 implicit hydrogen atoms, [O] is correctly displayed as a single O atom with the 2 free electrons (see figure).

Can someone explain why it is the case? Is it meant to be that way?

Thanks.

Hello MrYan,

It seems as a bug in our side. Would you expect `C` without any electrons in this case?

Best regards,
