The attached spreadsheet describes the key activities during the IJC 5.10 development cycle.
The key focus was on performance, and improvements were made both in schema init performance (the time it takes to connect to a database) and in browse mode performance (the time it takes to move between records in the form view, especially with highly relational data). The improvements that will be seen on any particular system will be very dependent on the exact nature of the system and the network and database performance. They could range from being several times faster, to there being little or no improvement. We would welcome feedback.
The improvements made were largely done by optimising the existing processes. During the 5.11 release we expect to explore alternative approaches in these areas that should bring further improvements.
The main user related features completed during this cycle were:
1. table widget in form can now display fields from multiple entities as long as they have a one-to-one relationship
2. new query operator for querying on the number of rows of a child table. e.g. find me all parent rows that have no child rows
3. Create new entity from results of R-group search with each R-group as a separate column. We plan to extend this in future to display this as an R-group pivot table
