Attached is a summarised version of the product backlog for IJC 5.10.

Please note:

  1. This list is a list of candidate features. Only a fraction of
these can be done for 5.10. The purpose in this collaboration is that we prioritise
these features as best we can according the needs of all members of the collaboration.

  2. Some features are "mega-features" and will only be be
    partially completed in 5.10

  3. Other things (e.g. bugs and infrastructure improvements) must
also be done during the 5.10 cycle.

  4. The status column is largely for our internal use and
describes what work is needed on the feature before development
    can start. But some decoding:

Needs specification = we need more input on how this feature
should work before we can start

Substasks need defining = needs to be broken down into small
tasks before it can be analysed

Analysis needed = we understand what is needed, but need to
investigate how to implement the feature

Ready to start = feature is well enough defined to start
    development

In progress = feature is already under development

  5. The points column is our estimate of how much work is
involved. The units are completely arbitrary. It allows us to
assess how many features we can try to achieve in this release.

Please review this list. We will be soliciting feedback and input
into prioritisation during the coming week. We only have a short window
to finalise this.

The 5.10 release is planned as 10 weeks of development followed by a
two week release phase which would end on or around May 18th.

Note: features and dates may be subject to change.

The prioritised features for IJC 5.10 are attached. This takes into account the following factors:

It should still be considered a draft as there might be minor adjustments. We are still to assess exaclty how many tasks we can take on for 5.10, but it looks likely that something like the first 10 -15 features will be possible in 5.10. This is being addressed this week.

The schedule is delayed by one week due to the 5.9 release and the first week (this week) is dedicated to bug fixing. Work on features will start w/c March 12th.
