In shortcut groups such as OMe and EtS, it would nice if the element symbols were colored in the usual way.

It is a minor feature but huge work. Recognizing element symbols from group names are not evident. Although it is a good idea, we do not plan to implement this feature in the near future.

You could do it not by automatically recognizing the atom symbols, but by adding fields to the shortcut group definition.

Yes, with some extra fields in the group definition... It can work.
It seems to be easier. But we have time to think over how and when implement it.
